Reviving Dead Batteries: The Formula for Refilling Lithium-Ion Batteries

Ana sayfa / News

Electric vehicles, smartphones, laptops – rechargeable batteries are at the heart of daily life. The majority of batteries available on the market today are composed of a lithium-ion alloy. However, these lithium-ion rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles. Once this cycle is complete, the batteries need to be replaced. But scientists have found a way to refill these dead lithium-ion batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries have a lifespan of around 500 to 1000 charge cycles, depending on usage and the battery’s structure. However, researchers have discovered a method to refill depleted rechargeable batteries. Scientists have developed a special injection for batteries that are unusable after the end of their charge cycle.

With this injection, depleted lithium-ion batteries regain approximately 80% of their original capacity. According to initial results, batteries can be reused for at least 100 cycles with this mixture. It’s worth noting that the structural integrity of the battery can affect the results. Deformed batteries may still not be reusable even with this injection.

Toyota scares automobile giants with its hybrid strategy

Toyota's hybrid strategy is causing a stir among automotive giants, helping the company reap significant profits in the industry.

While the batteries of electric vehicles have longer charge cycles compared to phone batteries, they still vary depending on usage. This makes the refill injection for dead batteries even more crucial.

The injection that refills depleted lithium-ion batteries will allow old batteries to re-enter the economy. There’s a possibility that concepts like refilling batteries instead of replacing them will become more common.

Although a method has been found to refill dead batteries, it’s important to use lithium-ion batteries carefully. Avoid leaving rechargeable batteries plugged in for extended periods and start charging them before they’re completely drained to extend their lifespan. Leaving your phone plugged in overnight can also affect battery health, although modern smartphones often cut off the current flow once the battery is fully charged, significantly reducing the risk of damage.
